After researching and interviewing various companies to have a coating applied to my garage floor I chose to go with Garage Excell and the professionalism of Rich and his staff/crew. GARAGE Excell owner Richard Escala did an excellent job on my 1958-era 2-car garage in Serra Mesa in April and May, 2011. My project included removal of pre-remodeling junk, demolition of existing cabinetry and walls, redesigning interior partitions and soffits and ceiling, refinishing and reinstalling high-quality solid-wood cabinetry and working countertops, resurfacing the floor with a beautiful flecked beach-like epoxy finish, and installing pre-fabricated wall-storage shelf and laser parking systems, as well as coordinating with my electrical contractor for the installation and rewiring of 2 main and sub-panel junction boxes. The project required 4 weeks, and Mr. Escala coordinated the crews and timing flawlessly, on-time and on-budget. My garage remodel, including electrical came to about $17,000, and I am completely satisfied .. so much so that I relied on Mr. Escala’s contacts and expertise in the local San Diego home-construction industry to make my final selection for a complete $300,000 remodel of the rest of my home and property scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2011.

We had a great experience with Garage Excell! Rich was very professional and courteous. He came up with a great layout for our garage remodel and started the job much quicker than we anticipated. After discovering, through multiple companies’ quotes, that the job would cost more than we expected due to necessary drywall work, Rich was able to come up with a plan that fit our needs and our budget. His employees were courteous, communicated with us, and always cleaned up at the end of each day. They accept Credit Cards but not American Express. I would recommend them and hope I can get them some more business.

Couldn’t be happier with how professional and the quality of service was at the price I paid. I was looking at buying the Ulti-MATE brand of storage cabinets and assembling myself and after talking to Rich, he was able to deliver and install for about the same cost as top online .com retailers were charging to just send cabinets on pallet to my curb and have me break my back getting into garage and assembling. The cabinets were the icing on the cake for my garage remodel.

Richard at Garage Excell is one of the most honest businessmen I have encountered in this area. He installed a garage cabinet layout for us several years ago. I called him with a complaint about the doors. He did not even come to the house, took my word for it over the phone and replaced them all (every single one) even though it was questionable if they were still covered under my warranty. He is very honest and thorough and delivers what he promises!

Richard Escala and his team remodeled my garage and it was the best experience I encountered. I met with three other companies however Richard listened to my needs and made excellent suggestions. His price was comparable to the other bids but his cabinets were superior in quality to the other companies. He made a floor plan to my liking including the horizontal Tekpanels where I can attach various hooks for my bicycles, brooms and other items. On the day he promised to begin his team arrived on time. They smoothed my concrete floor, filled in the broken concrete and applied the epoxy with a very favorable finished product. After allowing it cure for two days his other team came in with cabinets and Tekpanels. They were meticulous ,courteous , and completed the project to our total satisfaction. I want to thank Garage Excell and their wonderful owner and team of professionals.

My wife and I finally decided to remodel our garage after we’ve remodeled our entire house years ago. We contacted multiple companies to get in-home consultation and free estimates for cabinetry. We also contacted Richard at Garage Excell based on their ad in a magazine and based on their multiple good reviews on Yelp and Angieslist. We couldn’t be happier that we did. Richard was easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. He came over and listened to our needs and ideas. I even drew a sketch of what I wanted beforehand. Richard made constructive advices and changes to help with the dimensions of the cabinets and drawers in order to fit our space. He went over the different options in terms of cabinet finishes, color/finish, and handles. He sent us computer generated images of what our garage would look like (in 3D) with his cabinet design. Most amazingly, his price was lower than his competitors even though the quality of his cabinets appeared equal if not better than the others. Based on our comfort level with Richard and based on sense of trust in Richard and his company (because of what other people have stated in their reviews), we chose Garage Excell.

The company finished the cabinets in the amount of time that Richard promised. They came to our house and professionally installed everything without any problems. They were even flexible enough to postpone the installation d/t delays in our garage work from our general contractor. The installation was efficient, accurate, and clean. So far after 2 month of use, we haven’t encountered any issues. We now feel proud to walk into our garage, finally worthy to be part of our house.

Thank you to Richard Escala and Garage Excell! We would be happy to refer friends and families to this company. The only thing we regret was that we did not use them for our epoxy flooring.

Just did my Epoxy Garage Flooring with Garage Excell & I couldn’t be happier. First, I was in contact with Richard who was very nice and professional. It’s easier for me to communicate via email due to my work schedule and he was very on top of it and wrote back to my emails very quickly which was an immediate plus. I did a lot of research and was looking for the best reviews/best pricing and Richard beat all the other companies. He quickly gathered a quote for me, sent me the contract & got me in contact with Carlos who did the installation. I was scheduled a few days later which was great. Sometimes with these things you have to wait weeks before you can get an installation day.

Carlos arrived on time, was very professional and helped me move some of my heavy equipment in my garage which I couldn’t do on my own. I left for work while he worked on the garage and I trusted him completely. He called when he left my house & when I returned home I was stunned at the beautiful work he did! He came back the next day (on time) to finish the work and it turned out absolutely beautiful! Very nice people, get the job done fast, efficiently and lower than most! Kind of bummed I didn’t know of them earlier to have my cabinets done by them! Totally recommend. Thanks Garage Excell!

I am going to really enjoy this new garage. Although it was finished prior to Thanksgiving, I am slowly getting things back in place. My husband has been in the hospital a couple times since then, so my time is fractured. I would like to compliment you on the crews you sent in. They were good guys. That last day crew, who put the cabinets in, I had to ask a huge favor. I walked out into the garage, and the door locked behind me. Only because of their gracious help that took 15 minutes or so from them finishing up, on a night when they were running late, was I able to get back into the house, as all of the other doors were also locked. They were very kind, although dead tired and I know hungry. I truly appreciated it, as I was home alone, my husband was in the hospital. Please thank them again for me.

This review is completed because of the great experience I had. We have been wanting to remodel our garage after 26 years. My old cabinets are gone, the walls repainted and restucco, I have a beautiful epoxy floor, and my cabinets are beautiful.

The owner, Richard Escala, is an honest and ethical human being. Richard made the process easy. He complete what he said he would do without any games or wordsmithing. Working with contractors can sometime be frustrating with all the add ons and efforts to add more money to the project.

Richard did not engage in any unethical behavior. He was very professional and honest. The final product I now have in my garage is fantastic.

Garage Excell redid our floors for us and it looks fabulous. Not only did they do the floor but they also did about 6″ of the concrete footing around our garage – highlights the entire look. We have cabinets hanging on the footings but they went underneath the cabinets to clean the concrete, paint it, apply the flecks and the sealer.

You cannot go wrong with Richard and his crew! As a turn of events, we are now moving but the garage remodel has definitly added value to the house. We will be calling Garage Excell again soon.

I TOTALLY agree with all of the other 5-Star reviews of Rich and his team at Garage Excell! From start to finish, Rich was fantastic to work with – Excellent communication, was always prompt and professional. The finished garage looks EXACTLY like the 3D rendering he did during the consultation visit and the cabinets are of excellent quality as well. The installation team was quick and efficient, super-clean and every bit as friendly as rich.

I am sure that I will be calling Rich again for additional services and will be referring him to friends and family!

I highly recommend Garage Excell if you want a garage makeover. The owner, Richard Escala, understood and quickly responded to all my needs – and then some. His was one of two bids I received (the other also a highly respected company) and they were both very close in price. I selected Garage Excell because Richard was quick to return emails and fully explained the entire process. I signed the contract on a Friday, he told me the job would start the following Monday and be finished by Thursday. And it was! All of his crew were pleasant and, more importantly, totally professional. Wall painting was Monday, the epoxy flooring was accomplished within the next two days. (Floor was first ground smoothly w/ any cracks filled in,) Thursday the cabinets were installed. Amazing! Any small problems were taken care of immediately and his men also were a huge help in carting in all my stuff. Great job, Richard!
